Universal Magnetic field in the Plot, Vastu Shastra
Vastu Shastra has laid down several rules that would generate the right kind of energy in the plot.

Every plot is surrounded by energy and universal magnetic field. This energy can either be positive or negative. Vastu Shastra has laid down several rules that would generate the right kind of energy in the plot and the building that is constructed on it. For instance if there is a wall around the plot it creates an energy level and magnetic field inside the plot. In the absence of the wall the benefits of energy level and the magnetic field cannot be reaped. It is mandatory to have a thick compound wall in West and South sides. A wire fencing can easily replace a wall in the East and the North directions. An opening on these sides will prove quite beneficial.

Depending on the shape of the plot the energy levels and the effects of the magnetic field vary. If the plot is square the energy level in side the plot is obtained in proper proportions.

If the plot is rectangular in shape, energy level is at a medium level. For travelling from the Northeast to the Southwest corner the energy waves have to cover more distance. Due to this the intensity of the magnetic field is reduced. However if the ratio of length and breadth is 2:1 in the rectangular plot a good magnetic field can be created. But it must be remembered that in case the length increases the magnetic field will decrease simultaneously. In this context by raising one or two cross walls good magnetic field can be obtained.

The energy always flows from a positive to a negative end i.e. from a higher to a lower area. However, the South-West corner should be at the highest and the North-East corner at the lowest level. The energy level in the South-East corner should exceed that in the North-East corner by two feet. The energy level in the South - West corner should exceed that in the North-East corner by three feet.

It must be noted that the above rules are applicable only if the magnetic meridian (South-North direction) is passing through the centre of the plot and not through the corners of the plot. When the magnetic meridian passes through the corners of the plot the four main directions the East, the West, the North and South fall in the corner of the plot or near the corners of the plot. As a result the magnetic field and the energy level inside the plot give average benefits. According to Vastu Shastra if such buildings are constructed by following its principles they will not lead to heavy losses. Around 75% benefits can be expected from such establishments.

In the plots where the magnetic meridian passes through the centre, that is the four major directions the East, the West, the North and the South meet at the centre of the plot the auspicious ultraviolet rays are obtained. In these plots the four sub-directions the North-East, the North-West, the South-East and the South-West converge in the corners of the plot and the North-East angle is an acute angle less than 90%. The benefits are directly proportional to the acuteness of this angle.

Barring the North-East corner if the North-West, South-East and the South-West corners are extended i.e. there are an acute angle in all there corners people residing here will incur losses. It is necessary that these corners are 90° except the North-West corner which is more than 90°. It is extremely necessary to have the South-East and the South-West are right angles.

For generating energy level in the plot it is essential that the east and the north directions are kept vacant. Construction in the North-East, the South-East and the North-West corners with the support of the compound walls will have to be avoided if energy level and universal magnetic fields are to be increased. If the North-East corner is obstructed with constructions then the energy level and the universal magnetic field is completely destroyed. Therefore, the North-East corner should always be kept vacant and if possible there should be storage of underground water. Due to water the cosmic rays filter down to the earth which helps the building.

Trees, such as, Pipal, the Indian fig tree or any type of other trees with flowers should not be planted in the East, the North or the North-East corner because these trees absorb the auspicious ultraviolet rays. As a result the building will be deprived of the benefits of these rays. Water should be sprinkled in the East and the North sides of the plot. A catalytic action takes place due to this and the auspicious rays are absorbed by the land to a large extent.
