Strong Room , Vastu Shastra
Vastu Shastra recommends some basic principles for constructing strong room.

Vastu Shastra is around 5000 years old. It was propounded by the ancient sages in India. It lays down the rules for construction of residences as well as the places of work. Every unit within a building or flat requires special attention because each section has a separate utility. The Strong Room, therefore, should not be neglected. The principles for constructing these units are as follows:-

To start with it should always be constructed in the north direction in a building. This side is, thus, considered Lord Kubera`s place.

In the south side of the strong room, 1inch away from the wall and avoiding the south-east and the south-west corners, the safe should be kept with its back towards the south wall and front towards the north.

The position of the safe should be in the north side of a room. Avoid keeping the safe in the north-east corner as it will lead to loss of wealth. Safe in the south-east corner leads to unnecessary expenditure. If kept in the south-west or south-east corners it will improve the financial status for some time but all of a sudden the money is spent in a bad way or there is a fear of theft. If the safe is in the north- west corner, it will result in tremendous expenditure.

The strong room should have only one door made up of two shutters. It should never have a door in the south-east, the south-west, the north-west and in the south directions. If the doors face east and the north directions it is considered quite auspicious. Do not keep it exactly in front of the north side door.

Windows in these rooms should be high up on the east or the north sides. The thresholds should be at least 1 to 2 inches.

It is advised that the strong rooms are square or rectangular in shape. The height of the strong room should not be less than that of the other rooms.

There should not be any photograph of God in front of the safe. If the residents want they can put photographs on the east or the west sides of the safe. Due to scarcity of space if the safe is placed in the east, that can also be accepted. But it should be at least one foot away from the north-west or the south-west corner in the west side.

Place safe on a raised platform. Money should not be kept in a safe or an almirah without legs. Moreover the safe should not be kept on an uneven surface or in a slanted position in any direction.

Items, such as, garments, utensils etc. should not be kept in the safes. If at all, it is to be kept, it should be in the lower half. It should not be loaded over the money cupboard.

The safe should be built in the middle or the upper part of the cupboard.

Gold, silver and other valuables should be kept in the western or the southern section of the safe.

In the safe sweet smelling liquids, spray and others should not be kept. These obstruct the auspicious forces. The safe can be installed when the sun is in Dhanishta, Swati, Punarvasu, Shat Taraka, Uttara, Rohini and Shravan constellations on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. These are the auspicious days.

No heavy luggage, such as, suitcases should be kept on the safe because unnecessary gravitational force acts upon it. The safes should not be fitted in the wall. Even if it is kept there money definitely should not be kept in the uppermost drawer.

Vastu Shastra recommends yellow color for the walls of the tiles and walls of the strong room. This will lead to an increase in wealth.

The main Gods of the northern direction is Kuber. Budh (Mercury) is the planet of this deity. Hence worship the safe in the morning or the evening on Wednesdays of the second half of Lunar month (Margashirsh). Moreover the worshipping the deity on every Thursday and Friday leads to increase in wealth.

In no part of the safe or the strong room there should be any cobwebs, they lead to poverty.

The safe should not be kept under any beam.
