Amber Fort, Jaipur , Rajasthan

Amber Fort is named after the place where it is located. Once upon a time the region of Amber was the capital of the Kachhwaha Rajputs. Later they made Jaipur their capital and shifted there. According to historical data the fort was built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I. this site can be easily reached by availing either the local buses or rented cars. Taxis are also available for the trip. The entire building is made in marble and red sandstone. Such a combination makes the fort look spectacular. In addition to this there is the Maotha Lake that offers a crystal clear image of the fort.

The rugged look of the outer walls of the fort is quite deceptive. As the tourists explore the premises of the fort they will be astounded to find the brilliant ambience. The mode of architecture here reflects an intelligent amalgamation of both Hindu and Mughal styles. Apart from the carvings paintings are also widely used to design the interior of the Amer fort. These paintings depict the hunting scenes. Hunting was a recreation for the Rajput rulers.

The most impressive thing here is the elaborate mirror works that adorn the halls. These are a living proof of the artistic talent that was there in ancient India. The presence of a religious place is quite usual in a fort. At the Amber Fort the travelers will come across a Kali Temple. It is also known as Shila Devi Temple. Other significant tourist attractions within Amber Fort are Diwan-I-Aam, Ganesh Pol, Jai Mandir and others.
