Shatapatha Brahmana, Hindu Scripture

"Satapatha Brahmana" is a sacred text of Hindu Dharma, which illustrate the details of Vedic rituals and also philosophical and mythological background. It was written about in 300 B C E but few portions of it are much older and were transmitted verbally from unknown people. It has references throughout the worship of primitive mother-earth, unnamed snakes and human sacrifice.

"Satapatha Brahmana" is one of the texts , which describes the Vedic ritual related to the Shukla Yajurveda. The "Satapatha Brahmana" was translated in Englilsh by Professor Julius Eggeling in the later part of 19th century. It was published in five volumes as a part of the `Sacred books of the East` series. Few of the interesting points are the mythological sections of it, which also includes the myths of creation and the deluge of Manu.
