Shashur Monastery is a gothic monastery, situated 2km from Keylong in Lahul and Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh. It is celebrated for its ritual plays, which are acted out by the lamas while wearing masks and exotic costumes. This three-storeyed structure was established by Lama Gyasatshe of Ladakh in 17th century. Since the Shashur monastery stands on a narrow position, the complex has been planned vertically, yet following the traditional Mandala perception. The Chham Dance, observed in the month of June/July, is a significant tourist attractor.
