Established in 1973, Kongunadu Arts and Science College envisions serving the deprived and worthy students. It endeavours to preserve the culture and tradition of India, thus aiming to give its students wisdom and knowledge for day-to-day living.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College offers aided and unaided courses in undergraduate level. Aided Courses include-- BA in English Literature, B.Sc in Mathematics, B.Sc in Physics, B.Sc in Chemistry, B.Sc in Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology, B.Sc in Advanced Zoology & Biotechnology, B.Sc in Biochemistry, B.Sc in Computer Science.

In postgraduate level, courses like M.Sc in Mathematics, M.Sc in Physics, M.Sc in Botany, M.Sc in Zoology are offered. Unaided Courses also are offered to students, both at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. Undergraduate Courses include B.Sc in Mathematics with Computer Applications, B.Sc in Biotechnology, B.Sc in Computer Science, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), BBM CA, B.Com, B.Com CA, M.Com (International Business), B.Sc in Costume Design and Fashion. Postgraduate courses include-M.A. in English Literature, Computer Applications, M.Sc in Chemistry, MSc in Biochemistry, MSc in Bioinformatics, MSc in Biotechnology, M.Com, Master of Computer Application (MCA). Research Programmes include-- M.Phil & PhD in Botany, M.Phil & PhD in Zoology, M.Phil & PhD in Mathematics, M.Phil & PhD in Physics, M.Phil & PhD in Chemistry, M.Phil & PhD in Biochemistry, M.Phil & PhD in Biotechnology, M.Phil in Computer Science, M.Phil & PhD in Tamil (Part Time), M.Phil & PhD in English (Part Time), M.Phil in Commerce (Part Time).

Apart from the above-mentioned courses, University Grants Commission (UGC) also sponsors few job oriented certificate and diploma courses. These are-- Office Automation & Accounting Tally package, Marketing Management, International Travel & Tourism Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, Computer Applications (Data Care Management), Maintenance and Servicing of Electronic Devices, Cultivation and Marketing of Medicinal Plants. Other career oriented both certificate / diploma courses include-- Fashion Designing, Garment Manufacturing Technology, Photography & Mass Media.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College houses a spacious library and an information centre, spread over 7,700 sq. ft., presenting an ideal ambience to explore new vistas of knowledge. It is well decorated that supports accommodation of nearly four hundred and one people at a time. It has a huge collection of 41,206 volumes of books and three hundred and two periodicals, including thirty foreign journals and two hundred and seventy two Indian journals, over one thousand and three hundred hardback volumes, 1624 CDs, DVDs and Cassettes. In addition, a number of 1374 thesis and dissertations are stocked in the library and the theses are of immense help for the research fellows. Over thirty e-journals and DELNET database are the major source of information for researches.

Digital and Printed version of Indian Science Abstracts that were issued as early as fifty years back, is also obtainable. The Library is totally computerised with internet facility available for students. Online Public Access Catalogue is available for reference purposes. Other services available for the library users include- CD/DVD Access and cd/dvd writing facilities, colour/monochrome printout facility, lamination facility, photograph facility and bar coding facility.

This library and Information Centre has earned the recognition of a research centre that is apt for pursuing Ph.D programmes in Library & Information Science (External Programme), organised by Annamalai University. Special equipments like voice recorder, colour laserjet (hp) printer, Sony digital dvd player, Philips dvd player, large screen television, pen drive, barcode scanners (4nos), bar code printer, colour image scanner (hp/higher end/2nos), 25 computers, new arrivals display, newspaper stand, comfortable journal display, barcode data collector etc. are stocked here. Not only that, a mini theatre was made with a seating arrangement for seventy five people with hi-tech machines, including LCD projector, laptop computer, wide screen, desktop computer, television tuner card, cable television, DVD players, 1624 CDs and DVDs. For the users, the library remains open for twelve hours, without a break, from 8.00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. At a time oven eight hundred students and faculty members can get access to the resource of the library on a regular basis. Also there is a separate circulation counter for the library users.

The Departments of Kongunadu Arts and Science College comprise-- Tamil, English, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Business Management, M.Com (I.B), Commerce (C.A.), Commerce B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion, B.B.M (CA), Computer Science, Maths (C.A). These are well served by a team of efficient and qualified faculty members. Every department of Kongunadu Arts and Science College have their faculty associations like-- Tamil Literary Association, English Literary Association, Mathematics Association, Physics Association, Chemistry Association, Botany Association, Zoology Association, Biochemistry Association, Biotechnology Association, Computer Science Association, Computer Applications Association, Business Management Association, Commerce Association, International Business Association, Bioinformatics Association.

The college has a superb gymnasium, so that faculty and students can build up a sound health and stay fit. Separate workout areas have been built in order to carry on several fitness activities. For enhancing the spirit of sportsmanship amongst students, a sports hub has been built, equipped with newest facilities. There are separate fields for practicing games like basketball, tennis and volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton & Kabaddi. Hostel accommodation for both male and females students, with roomy well-furnished rooms, lying in the midst of serene and tranquil locality is obtainable for self-necessity. First-rate amenities include daily newspapers, magazines, outdoor and indoor gaming facilities, a gymnasium, are rendered for student`s amusement and entertainment. A continental kitchen is present that conforms to the dividing system. In all, staying in hostel is like a home away from home. Both the girls and boys hostels, in combination, can provide accommodation to over four hundred and fifty students. Other facilities include- separate airy dining hall, study hall, amusement hall and specialised medical care. Indian Overseas Bank suffices to the requirements of the faculty members and students. Adjacent to the campus there is an Indian Overseas Bank with ATM facilities. The canteen of Kongunadu Arts and Science College gives a supply of healthy food, snacks and beverages at a reasonable price. The Public Telephone Booth functions for the benefit of both the staffs and students. The Co-operative store works within the college premises, to provide stationery and other daily needs of the staff members and students.

The NSS wing of Kongunadu Arts and Science College implements eminent work in the field of social awareness. National Cadet Corps is equally active in this college. Young Red Cross (YRC) arranges several programmes like blood donation campaigns, health camps, community service programmes.
