Adventure Sports in Yana, Yana, Karnataka

The widely known saying about Yana is "The one with tremendous guts and determination goes to Yana and the one with money bags goes to Gokarna." The latter is a pilgrimage center lying close by. From times immemorial Yana has been popular for its wilderness. Yana is located in the Western Ghats in Karwar district of Karnataka. The roads leading to this place are accessible by cars and decent accommodation facilities are available too. The main attraction of Yana is its temples. This is a historical city that speaks volumes about the past. But the other aspect of this place is that it is the perfect place for adventure lovers. The trekking trails of Yana are popular with the travelers.

Bhairaveshwara ShikharaThere are several peaks at Yana, which are waiting to be conquered by the trekkers. Bhairaveshwara Shikara will be favorable spot to start with. The green expanse of this range is beautiful to look at. Being a part of the Sahyadri range of mountains the place is blessed with amazing sceneries. The travelers can easily explore this place through trekking. From this range the tourists can view the Mohini Shikara. The neighboring jungles are as if peace and charm epitomized. The peak of Bhairaveshwara Shikhara stands at a height of 120 meters. Both these ranges are composed of black crystalline limestone. The origins of these peaks are still unknown. This element of mystery has made the spot more interesting to the nature enthusiasts.

As the travelers trek through the forests they will be face to face with several temples. Lord Shiva, goddess Chandika and various Hindu gods and goddesses reside in these peaks. The two ranges have been named after Vishnu (Mohini) and Bhasmasura. The legend is found in the epics and other holy texts. While trekking or rock climbing the trekkers can watch out for the ingenious rock formations. As the travelers explore the region they will be convinced that Nature is full of surprises. The natural caves provide a preferable place for camping too. The deep forest has the power to make one feel lost in its charm.

vibhuti FallsAs one treks along the trails he or she will come to Vibhuti Falls. The sheer panoramic view of this place will wipe away tiredness. At the right side of the fall lies an agricultural field and to its left lies the jungle. The narrow road passing in front of it winds to the valley and ends there. As the trekkers move on they will again come across a fall. This one is bigger and has a height of 20-25 feet. On climbing atop this the trekkers can witness amazing scenes. Waterfalls are abundantly found in this region. This area too is good for camping. There are many temples in this part of yana too. If the nature enthusiasts are interested in history too then they can visit these temples. Most of these places are considered very sacred. Hence it is advisable that the trekkers abide by the norms set up by the temple priests.

While trekking, camping or rock climbing the travelers must carry the essential equipments. Walking stick, water, first aid and, if possible, guides are must. Rock climbing on these ranges can be dangerous. In case one is not an expert he or she should avoid it. As they say precaution is better that cure; hence all the necessary measures should be taken to ensure safety.

Yana has been popular for its natural beauty for several years. Today, however, it has developed as the Mecca for nature lovers and adventurers. Camping, trekking and rock climbing in one place is unimaginable; but Yana in Karnataka has made this possible.
