Studies have revealed that hypnosis, when used in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise and a low fat diet might help the overweight or obese individuals to lose weight.
Clinical Studies:
Hypnosis was found to be an effective tool for alleviating pain from cancer and other chronic conditions. Many clinical studies also indicate that hypnosis can reduce the acute pain experienced by patients undergoing burn-wound operations, bone marrow transplantations and childbirth. An analysis showed that hypnotic suggestions relieved the pain of the seventy five percent of the subjects.
Brain Imaging:
One controlled scientific experiment postulated that hypnosis might alter the perception of conscious experience in a way that is not possible when the people are not hypnotized. In this experiment, the color perception was changed by hypnosis in highly hypnotizable people as determined by PET scans.
Recent studies have shown that hypnotized subjects suggested to experience auditory hallucinations demonstrated via PET scans, regional blood flow in the same areas of brain where it happens during real hearing while the subject engaged in vividly imagining hearing noises the same thing do not occur.
