Among the several temples in Lakkundi Naneshvara Temple (based on Kashi Vishvanath Temple) is the most flamboyant one. It is intricately furnished and successfully reflects the expertise of the ancient craftsmen. The entire city was artistically built by its rulers. It also shows the love and understanding for art in the rulers. The ancient city is also known for its step wells built with canopied niches. These niches have Shiv lingas enshrined inside them.

These monuments have been etched out of rock and their high towers and pillared verandahs are quite impressive. The style of the Western Chalukyas was known as the Gadag Style.
