Located in Dharapuram- 638657, Bishop Thorp College is a significant educational institution that offers courses both at undergraduate and post graduate levels. These include- B.Com, B.Com (CA), Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A), B.Sc in Computer Sciences, B Sc. in Mathematics. Not only that one also can take admission in postgraduate courses like- M.Sc in Information Sciences and Management. At present Bishop Thorp College has a student strength of nearly 600 with thirty classrooms. Classes in the morning usually start at 10 `o` clock in the morning and ends at 1 p.m. Duration of the afternoon classes is from 2p.m. to 4p.m. Pure drinking water is always available. The college canteen is managed by female members of a Self-Help Group.
The Library of Bishop Thorp College stocks a good collection of books, that rightly suffices the needs of students of all its departments. There are 3 computer laboratories for computer course students, commerce students and another one for students other than those learning computers. Internet facility also is provided in these computer laboratories. Besides showing excellence in academics, Bishop Thorp College students also have shown their enthusiasm in participating in co-curricular activities. In fact a Fine Arts club is present, working up activities under the guidance of a teacher. Talented students who are inclined towards extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, oration, writing, acting are encouraged and even financial aids also are granted so that they can participate in competitions.
Sports is also is paid due attention. There is a playground that is adequately maintained, so that students can practice games like cricket, football and hockey. There are separate playgrounds for games like volleyball, Shuttle Badminton and Kabadi. A jogging track is laid out measuring 1.7km that borders the entire campus. There is a placement centre in the college that runs well under the guidance of the principal and a placement officer.
The Placement cell of Bishop Thorp College is quite active and is managed by a teacher. It enables the students in valuable counselling and also grooms them to be capable to face campus interviews in forthcoming years. Due to the sole initiative of the teachers heavyweights are invited, so that students can be successfully placed in their organisations. Scholarships are awarded to the deserving and poor students.
