Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College was run by Charitable Trusts viz., Janaki Ammal Ayya Nadar Trust and P. Ayya Nadar Charitable Trust. Set up in 1963, the college stands as a testimony to the insight and prudence of Thiru. P. Ayya Nadar, a humanitarian and industrialist. Rightly saying, this college suffices the needs and requirements of the people of rural region for higher education. His wife Thirumathi A. Janaki Ammal, a famous academician was equally liberal. The college has been rightly named after them. It has developed into an institution, which blends academic excellence with strict discipline.

The campus of Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College is spread out on 157 acres on the Sivakasi - Srivilliputhur Road, almost 5km away from Sivakasi Town. The college propagates the light of education and knowledge amongst the students of remote regions, who want to pursue education by overcoming all hurdles of their day to day life. Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College has received awards for its all-time achievement in numerous fields. During the span of six years from 1999-2005, NAAC had felicitated the college with `5` status. University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified it as an institution with potential for excellence in 2004.
