A self-governing institution of Tamil Nadu, the College has achieved 5 star status, accredited by NAAC.

Pioneering the cause of imparting quality education amongst the poorer section of the society, Arul Anandar College (AAC) has been set up as an self-governing institution, that is supervised by `Jesuits of the Jesuit Madurai Province`. Affiliated to Kamaraj University, Madurai, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded the college 5 star status, situated 23km away from Madurai city.

The campus, spread out on almost 38 acres, is a calm and tranquil rural locality. And such serene ambience proves apt for studying and gaining knowledge and perseverance. Arul Anandar College offers Government aided courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. These include B.A. (Economics), M.A. in Economics, B.A. (History), M.A. in Philosophy, B.A. (Philosophy), B.Sc. (Chemistry) M.Sc. in Rural Development, B.Sc.(Mathematics), B.Sc.(Physics), B.Sc. in Rural Development Science (RDS).

Self-Financed Courses that are offered include-- undergraduate courses in B.B.A. (Business Administration), B.Com with Computer Applications, B.Sc in IT and Management, B.Sc. (Maths) B.Sc. in Physical Education. Postgraduate courses are- M. Phil in Economics, M.Com, M.Sc. in Physics, M.C.A, M.Sc. in Applied Psychology, M.Sc. in Mathematics.

Doctoral Programmes with specialisations in Rural Development Science and Economics too are offered. On approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Arul Anandar College has been selected for offering career centric courses for the students at undergraduate level. These courses are offered as Certificate, Diploma and Advanced

The Departments under Arul Anandar College are-- Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Rural Development Science, Computer Science, Economics, Philosophy, History, Business Administration, Applied Psychology, Tamil, English, Commerce, IT and Management, Physical Education. Special mention may be made of the Department of Religion and Value Education. In order to inculcate a spirit of personal growth and development, two courses namely Personality Development And Social Analysis; Religion and Ethics and Religion & Society are offered. Special scholarships and fee concessions are granted to meritorious and deserving candidates. Banking facilities also are provided to its students. The Placement Cell also is very active, organising several campus interviews for deserving students. `VSAT Classes` also are held.

Arul Anandar College has a well-equipped library which started its journey in 1973 with only one thousand and five hundred books in its stock. As a mark of celebration of silver jubilee year in 1995, a separate Library building was built, which covers a huge area of 8500 sq .ft. Presently it has a collection of more than 42,000 volumes of books. Library hours are from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm. Magazines and periodical section, reference section, book stack section and a section of hardbound volumes are enriched within their individual collection. For easy operation the Library has undergone computerisation. Open Public Access Search system has been installed, so that the students can easily check out the availability of a library book. An e-Library has also been set up with various utilities available for the students like- surfing of the internet, accessing study materials from various universities and Encyclopaedias. One can also access the photostat facilities at minimal cost.

Special extension services are being planned for the students. For instance, Centre for Rural Action, Development And Research (RADAR), has been formed with the objective of creating a conducive environment for the poorer section of the society. `VETEX` is also beneficial for the rural areas. Arul Anandar Initiative for Social Education initiates the `ARISE program` for imparting knowledge and skills to the rural poor. The Alumni Association of Arul Anandar College (AACAA), conducts basic Computer Course for Rural Girls for all those who had left their schools. Two bodies, namely The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Quality Advisory Committee(QAC) were formed in accordance of NAAC recommendation, for promoting enhanced educational standards of the college. English Coaching for weaker students are also conducted for the pupil`s benefit.

Other facilities provided to Arul Anandar College students is marked for its infrastructure including hostel accommodation, parking areas, spacious play fields, well equipped Laboratories, `Class `B` Meteorology / Observatory`, `Poly House`, Computer Facility including Internet browsing, purified Drinking Water, Restroom, Reprographic Facilities, Audiovisual Laboratory, Miranda Language Park. Focusing on the needs of imparting a sense of social awareness, NCC (National Cadet Corps), National Service Scheme (NSS) have opened up their wings. A Universal Prayer House is present, so that people can offer their prayers.

Youth Red Cross also promotes various social awareness programmes like- Blood Donation camps, Disaster Management programmes, student Counselling and other humanitarian services. Rotaract is a youth wing, introduced in 2006, that inculcates the spirit of citizenship, leadership, service and humanism in the young minds.
