Ahmedabad Railway Station is considered an important centre of the Western Railways zone of Indian Railways

Ahmedabad Railway Station is considered one of the main railway stations of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is also known as the Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station. In Gujarat, Ahmedabad Railway Station is considered the primary terminus of rail transport for the city of Ahmedabad. It is also considered an important centre of the Western Railways zone of the Indian Railways. To the local people the station is known as Kalupur, because it is situated in the Kalupur area. There are many other secondary railway stations apart from the Ahmedabad Railway Station, namely, Gandhigram, Asarva, Sarkhej, Maninagar and Sabarmati Junction.

Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station is well connected with the major parts of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. Ahmedabad Station has 12 platforms. Like other railway stations this also has a number of tea stalls, snack bars, medical shops, enquiry desk. The station is well equipped by internet connections, run by Tata Indicom. Plans to modernise the station with Wi-Fi technology is also underway. To make the Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station technologically advanced, a large-scale automation process has been taken into consideration.
