`36 China Town`, the Indian film is a murder mystery directed by Abbas-Mustan released in 2006.

36 China Town, the Indian filmThe Indian film, `36 China Town` is a directorial work of Abbas-Mustan. This is a clear adaptation of 1992 movie `Once Upon A Crime`. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in their second film together. The actor Upen Patel makes his debut in this movie. The film was a failure as said by the critics but was reasonably well at the box office. The movie`s story revolves around the murder of a high-profile woman. There are a number of usual suspects and there is a brainy cop who is hell bent to solve the mystery.

Synopsis of `36 China Town`
The Indian movie `36 China Town` is a murder mystery by the kings of suspense thrillers Abbas-Mustan. The story starts in a simple way where Sonia Chang played by Isha Koppikar is a rich and famous casino owner. She resides in a mansion named as 36 China Town. She has a lovely son. The story starts like that one day her son is kidnapped by somebody. She breaks down and offers 250,000 rupees as a reward for the person who will return her son. Even as her lawyer and the local playboy Rocky played by Upen Patel pay her a courtesy visit, she gets a phone call that her child is well and will be delivered to her soon. The child incidentally has been discovered in Mumbai by a struggling actor Raj played by Shahid and a runaway girl played by Kareena.

Raj and Priya meet the missing child. They decide to divide the money they will get from Sonia. They board in a bus to go to Goa and return the child. On the way, they run into a whole lot of characters, including a compulsive gambler played by Johnny Lever and his wife Tanaz Currim, a rich but mentally unstable husband played by Paresh Rawal and his under dressed wife Payal Rohtagi. When they reach 36 China Town they call Sonia. But the phone rings without any reply. Taj and Priya goes into the house and search her but they do not find her. While returning they find Sonia`s dead body. They become scared and flee from there. Out of fear they just forget to bring the child out of the house. Raj goes back to the palace to take back the child. That time he sees two eyes and legs just behind the sofa. He runs from the palace with the child.

Priya left the suitcase in the mansion. So Raj again goes their. But by that time police arrive at the palace and catch Raj. Very soon, Priya also becomes a suspect. The child is eventually given over to the care taker of the palace.

The film soon becomes a mystery movie with loads of surprises all over it. Johnny Lever plays an important role as he carries the dead body of Sonia unknowingly to his home. He gets caught by the police and becomes a prime suspect of the murder.

The police inspector Karan played by Akshaye Khanna is the investigator of the murder case. He is quite confused about the case as he has three suspects. Rocky played by Upen Patel was the same person whom Raj saw behind sofa after Sonia`s death. When Raj identifies him he also becomes a suspect. Gracy played by Payal Rohatgi and her husband Natwar played by Paresh Rawal become suspects in a different way. Actually both of them had gone to the palace because of some other reasons on that night. As climax it is revealed that the servants were the killers. When Sonia found out the intensions of the servants, she wanted to change the will. And that is the reason why two of hr servants killed Sonia Chang.

Cast and Crew of `36 China Town`
The star cast of the film `36 China Town` includes Akshaye Khanna, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Upen Patel, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Tanaz Lal, Payal Rohatgi, Isha Koppikar. Tanushree Dutta, and Priyanka Chopra are present as guest appearance. The film is directed by Abbas-Mustan, while it is produced by Subhash Ghai. The music director is Himesh Reshammiya and story is by Shyam Goel. The cinematography is done by Ravi Yadav.
