Running on narrow-gauge tracts, the toy trains of India were laid down during the British era for facilitating connectivity of plains with all the hill resorts. Shimla Toy trains of India Shimla
Covering the route from Kalka to Shimla, this toy train passes through nearly one hundred and seven tunnels and lofty arched bridges. The captivating view and stop over at the spectacular hill stations add thrill to the entire journey. From Kalka, the toy train encompasses a total distance of approximately ninety-six km in 6 hours.

Udhagamandalam (Ooty)
Joy rides in toy trains enhance the excitement of travelling to a great extent. Travelling at a speed of nearly thirty-three km per hour this toy train runs through beautiful plains, green plantations and forested hillocks. Ooty is well linked by a narrow gauge line from Matthupalayam, which serves as the railhead for the main line trains.

Cranking up almost sixteen tunnels the train crosses tall girder bridges on the way. The captivating scenery that it offers to the passengers is even more splendid.

Darjeeling
This has gained all the hype and attention amongst the toy trains of India. It links the town of New Jalpaiguri with the spectacular hill resort of Darjeeling in West Bengal. The toy train line stretches up to approximately eighty-six km. People can get the scope of beholding the breathtaking view of the Himalayas.

Matheran Toy trains of India Matheran
This seventy seven year old toy train connects Neral to Matheran and is the main route for reaching a small hill station lying close by to Mumbai city. Commencing its journey from Neral on Mumbai- Pune line the train takes nearly 1 and ½ hrs to reach its destination. While wheezing up into the crystal clear air of mountainous region, this toy train provides the passengers with the stunning view of hills, plains and valleys.
