Shyam Lal College (Evening), a reputed college of Delhi, started functioning from 8th September 1969. Located at Shahdara , Delhi- 110032, it has now earned the status of `a full-fledged constituent college` of Delhi University which impart education in subjects like Commerce and Humanities to more than one thousand students.

Shyam Lal College (Evening) houses various departments like Commerce, Economics, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Political Science and Physical Education. Each one of these departments also has formed their `Academic Societies`.

The college offers courses at undergraduate level only. One can take admission in BA (Hons) courses of different subjects like Economics, Political Science, Hindi. Courses like B. Com (Hons) and also B. Com( Pass) are offered to the commerce students. BA (Programme) is offered as well.

Special prizes are granted to the students of this college in order to boost up their morale Academic Prize , Shri Sunder Lal Rohtagi and Smt. Roopwati Rohatgi Memorial Prizes , Smt. Lilawati Bhatia Memorial Prizes , Km. Kanika Gupta Memorial Prizes are worth mentioning. Special fee concessions are provided to all the deserving students .In order to help the students the Shyam Lal College (Evening ) are offering Student`s Aid Fund , SC/ST Scholarship, Railway Concession etc.

In Shyam Lal College (Evening), sports also have been given due importance. Every year Sports Prizes are given to the students who leave up to the standard that has been set up.

Shyam Lal College (Evening) has an excellent library, which is as old as the College itself. It was functioning since the year 1969. It is well furnished providing individual reading rooms for the readers.

Presently nearly 33470 books of all possible subjects are found in the library. It also subscribes to thirty eight journals or magazines and also twelve newspapers which help in advancing research and advanced learning. It also has a unit of reprography. All the services are computerized with the aid of grants given by University Grants Commission (UGC). The Library is opened on all working days from 1 `0` clock in the afternoon till 8`o` clock in the evening.

For facilitating the zeal for social work and welfare activities the students of Shyam Lal College (Evening) also are encouraged to enroll their names in National Cadent Corps ( NCC) and also N.S.S. (National Service Scheme). Student Union also is formed with the objective of fulfilling the logical and the artistic development of students.
