Indian movie actor Shahid Kapoor is a Mumbai based boy with film background as his father is `Karamchand` famed Pankaj Kapoor and mother is television actress cum classical dancer Neelima Azeem. He was born on February 25th 1981 in Mumbai and at this young age he has become the heartthrob of many teens. When Shahid was three years old, his parents got divorced and he started living with his mom. Shahid`s dad got married to actress Supriya Pathak. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has a little brother and sister called Ruhan and Sanaa. His stepbrother Ishaan Kapoor has starred with him in the film `Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi`. While studying in NM College, Juhu, Shahid joined Shiamak Davar`s dancing school and he went on to become a part of Shiamak`s dancing troupe. In his childhood he did an advertisement for complan with Ayesha Takia. When he was 18, he accidentally landed the commercial for Pepsi, which also starred Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. Shahid made his debut in Aryans music video called "Aankhon mein". He did some extra roles also as for example he was in a background dance troupe of Shiamak Davar`s in the film `Taal`. Shahid`s screen presence got him many movie offers and he signed Tips `Ishq Vishk`, opposite to Amrita Rao and MTV VJ Shenaz Treasurywala. Ken Ghosh was directing it. In 2003, Shahid`s debut movie `Ishq Vishk` was released and the newcomer surprised everyone with his sparkling performance. The actor proved that he had all the qualities to hit the movie single handedly. He was a natural performer and an exceptional great dancer. His good looks drove his fans crazy and he became a newborn star. He got the `Hero Cycles stardust Award` and `Film Fare` award for the best New Comer of the year 2003. But the interesting part is when he went for the audition of `Ishq Vishk` for the first time he was rejected because he looked too young. A year later Ken Ghosh saw him in a public place and found him completely changed. Ken asked him to come again for the audition and then he was selected.

After the release of `Ishq Vishk` he was sitting idle. Though his film done well and his acting is also appreciated he was not offered any role for a long time. Actually producers and directors had no subjects for a 22 years old guy. Then people started writing subjects on him and he started getting lots of offers. He had to wait six months before his second film went on floor. He had gone through 80 scripts between May and November 2003 before signing. Shahid and Kareena`s chemistry in `Fida` was appreciated and the duo signed three movies together `36 China Town`, `Chupke Chupke` and `Milenge Milenge` as well. In 2005 all three of his films, `Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi`, `Deewane Huye Pagal`, and `Shikhar` failed to do well at the box office but his performances were praised by all. He received a Star Screen Best Actor Nomination for his work in `Shikhar`. In 2006, Shahid received his first box office success since his debut with the multi-starrer, `36 China Town`. Despite mixed reviews the comic-thriller became an above-average success. In the summer of 2006, Shahid toured the world with the `Rockstar` group along with fellow Bollywood stars, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham, Esha Deol, Mallika Sherawat and Zayed Khan. His most recent film `Vivah` by Sooraj Barjatya is a blockbuster in the box office. In this film his lucky charm Amrita Rao is also with him.. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor`s recent released movies includes `Fool and Final` and `Jab We Met` by Imtiaz Ali opposite Kareena Kapoor. The latter one has proved to be a major success in India and U.K. and the actor`s performance was critically acclaimed. He will soon be seen in two coming films namely `Tasveer` by Nagesh Kukunoor opposite to Ayesha Takia and Akshay Kumar and also Aziz Mirza`s `Kismet Konnection` with Vidya Balan.

In 2005 the actor got Blistex Awards for best lips and in 2007 he got sports world awards as Jodi of the Year along with Amrita Rao for the film `Vivah`. In the year 2008 he received Stardust Awards as Editor`s Choice Award for Best Actor for the perfomance in`Jab We Met`.
