Mithun Chakraborty , Bollywood Actor

Indian movie actor Mithun Chakraborty is an actor who has won the national award for three times. He was popular as a dancing star. His break dance was very popular among the youth. He was one of the most famous actors of India in 80s. After his performance in `Disco dancer` and `Dance Dance` he was regarded as super star and was in comparison with Amitabh Bachchan. He has acted in more than 200 Bollywood films, in accordance with some of the Bengali and Bhojpuri film also. Bengali films have taken an important role in his life as he has achieved three national awards in `Tahader Katha`, `Mrigaya` and `Swami Vivekananda`. Two of them are in Bengali language. He has chain of Hotels situated in hill station in Ooty named `Monarch Hotels`.Mithun Chakraborty , Bollywood Actor His birthplace was Barisal which is now in Bangladesh. He was educated at the Scottish Church College, Calcutta and then graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. It is a little known fact that Mithun was a staunch Naxalite before entering the film industry. Mithun returned to his family and left the Naxalite fold, at the news of his only brother`s death by an accident. He take the risk of coming from a `one way road` of Naxalites just because of his family. This proved to be a turning point in his life and helped him a lot of becoming what he is today. Another lesser known fact is that he had undergone expert training in martial arts. From that point he is today`s Mithun, the popular `Mithunda` for all generation. It is really praisable. Mithun is married to Indian actress Yogita Bali and has four children, three sons and one daughter. The eldest son, Mimoh Chakraborty is an upcoming actor whose debut movie is scheduled to be launched very soon. The actor is very interested in sports and also takes special interest in football. He formed the `Bengal Football Academy`. He tries every means to raise money for the team as for example he travels the whole day in buses and also plays exhibition matches. In 1999 he was able to collect 37 lakhs for this purpose.

Mithun worked in his debut film with Mrinal Sen in 1976 named `Mrigaya`. In the very first film in his career he showed his talent and got National Film Award for Best Actor. After his debut he played some supporting roles in films such as Do Anjaane and Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan which did not gain him any recognition as such. He started getting recognition in low budget Ravikant Nagaich directed film Surakshaa. After that he played the lead roles in early 1980s films such as Hum Paanch and Wardaat. The later one was a sequel to his early film Surakshaa. His breakthrough role finally came in the musical drama `Disco Dancer` which was a huge success due to its hit music. That was the year 1982. Bappi Lahiri was the music director and two bengalis Mithun Chakraborty and Bappi Lahiri did rock the Bollywood to its height. The next hit was Gunda and this film was followed by other musical films such as Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki in 1984 and Dance Dance in 1987. All these films showcased him as a talented dancer. He starred in many successful romantic and family drama films during this period such as Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye in1983, Pyaar Jhukta Nahin in1985, Swarg Se Sunder, and Pyaar Ka Mandir. These films remain his most commercially successful films to date. Some of the other hit films of Mithun`s career can be mentioned as Wnted, Boxer, Jagir, Jaal, Watan Ke Rakhwale, Commando, Waqt Ki Awaaz, Guru and Dushman. The actor ruled the industry for a decade..

Pyaar Jhukta Nahin in1985 movie Indian movie actor Mithun`s versatility can be proved by seeing his career graph. He started with critically acclaimed movie `Mrigaya` and even after that he continued doing such projects. His performances in Tahader Katha and Swami Vivekananda, were widely appreciated and won him National Film Awards. He also acted in some Bhojpuri movies. In the late 1990s he took a break from acting and relocated to Ooty where he set up some businesses. He was the highest tax payer in the country for five consecutive years, from 1994 to 1999. He made a comeback to the mainstream Hindi film industry in 2005 with the film `Elaan` which was not successful. He did supporting roles in films like `Lucky: No Time for Love`, etc. he again came back t limelighe when he won acclaim for his performance in Kalpana Lazmi`s Chingari. He recently starred in Mani Ratnam`s `Guru` for which he received critical acclaim. Among his upcoming films Samir Karnik`s `Heroes` and `Zindagi Tera Naam` are notable.

Indian movie actor Mithun Chakraborty is an award winning star who`s talent was prominent even after his first film. For his first film `Mrigayaa` he won national film award for best actor in 1977. He again won national awards for `Tahader Katha` and "Swami Vivekananda` in 1993 and 1996 respectively. He also won two Filmfare awards. The Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in the 1990 film Agneepath, and the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his performance in Jallad. He also got Star Screen award for `Jallad`. In the year 2007 he won lifetime achievement award and also Rol emodel of the year award. He has also won BFJA awards two times. First one was in 1977 as best actor for `Mrigayaa` and the second one is in the year 1995 as best actor.
