The Indian movie `Kaal Ho Na Ho` is a directorial debut of Nikhil Advani, which was produced and co-written by Karan Johar. The film was screened at the Valenciennes, ERA New Horizons, Marrakech International and Helsinki Film Festival. Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan Combination works again for the 3rd time. The film is full of fun and joy as well as a string of sorrow ness which bring the audience into tears. Nikhil Advani does full justice and uses all the actors with full energy and vigour.

Synopsis of `Kaal Ho Na Ho`
`Kal Ho Naa Ho` sets at the backdrop of Manhattan in New York. This is the story of three friends namely Aman played by Shahrukh Khan, Rohit played by Saif Ali Khan, and Naina played by Preity Zinta. They cross a journey of life that teaches them the meaning of life as well as friendship. They learnt to live through the time of sorrow and also happiness.

Naina aka Catherine Kapur, aged twenty three is completely overwrought by the conditions around her. She has a Christian mother and a Punjabi grandmother. She is the eldest daughter of Jennifer played by Jaya Bachchan who has to take care of a younger brother and a sister. They also have some economic constrains. Naina never gets time for herself, she forgets to even smile. She is an angry young woman, for more than one reason. Her father committed suicide when she needed him the most, leaving Jennifer to raise their children all alone. Lajjo played by Sushma Seth, Jennifer`s mother-in-law, blames Jennifer for the suicide. Furthermore, Jennifer is unhappy because Lajjo refuses to accept Gia, a six-year-old girl whom Jennifer adopted, as her granddaughter. In addition, the restaurant Jennifer operates is faltering.

Aman Mathur who is a happy-go-lucky man, comes on screen as Naina`s neighbour. He seriously tries to change everything with his contagious joviality and zest for life. He brings his joyousness to every matter. He also helps to solve everyone`s problems. Aman starts intervening in Naina`s life too and makes her doing things above her expectation. Naina starts smiling which she forgot long time back. She has one good friend named Rohit whom she found in her MBA classes. Aman increases his friendship with Rohit nd thus three of them have become good friends.

Aman becomes very serious about Naina`s family problems and noticing the sadness of everyone in her family Aman intervenes. His insistence on their activity, his revival of their financial success, and his enthusiastic optimism soon changes their lives for the better. Although Naina is initially reluctant to enjoy the presence of Aman, she grows to like him and eventually to love him.

In the meantime, Rohit has fallen for Naina, though he does not tell her so. By that time understanding her love for Aman Naina confesses this to her friend Rohit. Rohit tells this to Aman and Aman tells Naina that he is already married and there is no chance for Naina. Aman also shows a photograph of his wife to Naina. Rohit goes home to help prepare for his parents` anniversary and meets a young woman called Camilla who he starts dating. Camilla is a gold-digger whose primary objective is to marry Rohit for his parent`s money.

Aman contacts Rohit and urges him to make a play for Naina even though he has been trapped into an engagement. Aman plays a simple game to Camilla and tells her that Rohit has lost everything money, power, etc. Camilla immediately leaves Rohit, who is now in a position to court Naina. Aman has told everyone that he is married to Priya played by Sonalee Bendre. But as a matter of fact this is a lie told by Aman just to hide the truth of his illness. He is suffering from weakness in his heart and he knows that very soon he will die. Therefore he believes in living life today. Because he thinks that there may be no tomorrow. This is his philosophy about life.

He eventually becomes successful to find out the truth that Jia is Naina`s sister who is her father`s child from his extramarital affair. Lajjo also understands Jennifer`s sacrifice. The film moves on and the condition of Aman becomes worse. Priya tells Naina that Aman is nearing towards death and nothing can stop it. Naina is shattered but Aman requests her to marry Rohit as he is in tremendous love with her. Naina feels helpless but without any other option left she agrees to marry Rohit. Aman dies just after Rohit and Naina get married. The whole film is a narration of Naina to Jia.
