Hrishikesh Hemant Kanitkar is the full name of the left-handed batsman of Maharashtra Cricket team, H Kanitkar. He was born on November 14, 1974 in Pune, Maharashtra. His father`s name is Hemant S Kanitkar, who has played two Tests against West Indies in 1974-75,
Hrishikesh is a right-arm offbreak bowler of Maharashtra team. He has also played under team India and Air India Cricket team. Hrishikesh`s remarkable part in the Indian cricket was during the Independence Cup final against Pakistan at Dhaka in January 1998. He knocked the winning boundary off Saqlain Mushtaq in India`s unforgettable victory against Pakistan and that too in fading light.

Even after that stroke, he could not make a permanent place in the Indian team. He is a very vital player in the team who could play a crucial part in "One day" as well as in the "Test Cricket". He is a middle-order batsman, an off-spinner and a multi-talented fieldsman but still due to his temperament could not be a regular player in the Indian team.
Hrishikesh had his "Test match" debut at Melbourne on December 26-30, 1999 against Australia. He has played total 2 "Test matches" and has scored 74 runs. Hrishikesh`s highest score in these matches is 45 runs and average is 18.50. His striking rate in Test matches is 40.00, which includes 8 fours. Hrishikesh has not taken any wickets in these matches and has given 2 runs from 6 balls. His second and the last "Test match" was also against Australia on January 2 to 4, 2000, which was held at Sydney.
Hrishikesh debuted in One Day International (ODI) matches against Sri Lanka on December 25, 1997, which was held at Indore. Hrishikesh Kanitkar has played overall 34 ODIs till today and has made a total score of 339 runs. His highest score in any ODI is 57 runs and average is 17.84. His scorecard includes one half-century, 25 fours and one six in the ODIs. With ball in hand in the filed, he has taken 17 wickets by giving 803 runs from 1006 balls. The last time Hrishikesh Kanitkar played an ODI was against Australia at Perth on January 30, 2000.
