Synopsis
Vimmi Saluja played by Rani Mukerji and Rakesh Trivedi played by Abhishek Bachchan are two ambitious aspirants from small towns where their dreams are written off as outrageous daydreaming. Vimmi wants to be a famous model and actress, she spends her time watching mirror and dreaming of becoming miss India someday. But the reality is that her parents want her to make laddus and marry some unknown guy. She runs off to realize her dreams. Rakesh on the otherhand keeps dreaming of the day when one of his business plans will make him an overnight millioniare. His mind is a fertile ground for craziest of ideas to turn rags into riches. He is not a soul to be caged by the expectations of his ticket collector father. Reality hits them both and they realise their dreams are about to be crushed, when Vimmi`s marriage gets arranged to a local village guy and Rakesh`s father played by Raj Babbar continues to force him into a 9-5 job. They run away from their respective homes and meet at a train station. Initially they both try to achieve their dreams but end up conning a businessman who cheates Rakesh in order to get some money. They decide to be scam artists in order to raise money to make it in Bombay. They starts their journey adopting the fake names of `Bunty` and `Babli` and succesfully pull off scam after scam such as looting and conning rich people dressed as local guides, religious priests, health inspectors etc. Their flamboyant antics make them famous in newspapers nationwide. Soon their friendship leads to romance and they decide to continue scamming the rich as husband and wife. B&B becomes legends. The two unassuming scammers hit headlines across the country for their daring and imaginative cons and robberies.

But one cop, Dashrath Singh played by Amitabh Bachchan has vowed to bring the two crooos to the book of law. Every time they have s feeling thst Little do they know that ACP Dashrath Singh Amitabh Bachchan is catching up with their scams and pranks, getting closer each time. He relentlessly pursues them across India in the hopes of putting them behind bars. To complicate matters, Rakesh and Vimmi have a child, and after a very close call eluding Dashrath they decide to quit conning for their child`s sake. Ironically, this decision leads to their capture by Dashrath. While in custody, their heartfelt confessions and conversation soften the detective`s heart and he lets them go, certain he has destroyed Bunty and Babli`s career as criminals. Years later, Dashrath rescues them from their mundane and domestic lives to work for the nation thwarting the activities of other scammers.
