Star Screen AwardsThe Screen Award has been the only Awards ceremony in India which has been graced by the presence of the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, (known as the Oscars) These awards are far different from many other awards in the country. The entire nomination and selection for the Star Screen Awards is done by a panel of distinguished professional from the industry itself-in a manner similar to that of the Oscars. And the criterion for winning is professional excellence, not just popular view.

The Screen Awards , initiated by Mr. Vivek Goenka, the chairman of the Express Group in 1994, is focused on films in India.
