Indian movie actress Farida Jalal is a competent actress playing her roles with full dignity and self-respect. She was married to actor Tabrez Barmavar who died in September 2003 and has a son named Yaseen. She has awarded many a times in her career. The actress came to the tinsel town with a dream of becoming a big heroin but after some days found herself typecasted in sister roles. She never lost her heart on such action. Pyaar Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, etc are important. For the lasy film she won a Filmfare Award as Best Supporting Actress. She also acted in many Television serials, such as, in the hit sitcom, Dekh Bahi Dekh. Also, she stars in Shararat: Thoda Sa Jadu, Thodi Si Nazaakat in which she plays a leading role. The comedy is currently air on the channel Star Plus. In 2005 she worked as co-hostesses at the 50th Filmfare Awards along with Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre, in Mumbai.
