Palmistry- Head Line: This is the most important line while assessing an individual`s personality and attitudes. It also shows how a person`s thinking is going to shape his/her life. The headline has three possible origins:
a) Weaved with lifeline at the start: Such people are attached with their surrounding and loved ones. More the brain line and lifeline is integrated, more prominent is the attachment. Some brain lines travel halfway down the palm with this kind of chaining, showing extreme dependencies in relationships and family.
b) Springing out from lifeline itself: The person is deeply attached, although the struggle for creating an identity for him is also present.
c) Independent from Lifeline: If the brain line is completely detached from the lifeline, then it shows a person with highly individualistic thinking. More pronounced the gap, more freedom loving the individual will be. The desirable headline should be long, thin yet deeply etched and free from any breaks or islands. Such a line denotes good reasoning power, intellect and grasp. The greater difference between the quality of head line between Passive hand (the hand with inherent qualities we are endowed with), and active hand (the hand developed by us) shows the amount of effort a person has made to improve his / her capabilities and perspective in life.

If the head life has a natural bent towards the mount of Luna (moon), the person`s thinking is very creative and emotional. More the bent, more pronounced are the traits. A deep sharp bent to Moon`s mount may indicate a person`s tendency to have some mental abnormality (usually hyper ness), insanity or cruelty. A straight brain line depicts a practical aptitude.
Many a times the line is forked at the end, denoting a person`s aptitude for both emotional and practical perspective (usually its the desirable trait). The very feature gets imbalanced when the fork gets deep (closer to the origin of the line), as both the traits get too pronounced.
In case the line is broken in three branches at the end, namely towards mount of moon, straight and towards the mount of mercury, then it shows a sharp acumen in life, especially business. A very rare case of having two headlines is in the palms of highly intelligent people.
Palmistry- Heart Line: Heart line represents emotions and spirituality. It starts from the edge of the hand (from the little finger side) and travels across the top of the palm. The heart line can be straight or curved.
A straight short heart line shows an emotionally cool person, who either bases the relationships on sex, or other practical aspects.
A straight long heart line reaching the middle space beneath mount of Jupiter and Saturn shows a person with warm emotions, but a tendency to put them under constant scrutiny. Spontaneity and display of affections is not that prominent with these kinds of people.
When the heart line is curved and reaches the portion between fore and middle fingers, it means that the person is emotional, warm and passionate.
When the curved heart line ends underneath the middle finger it means the person is self-centered in relationships and need to have more consideration towards one`s partner.
A person with heart line running straight across the palm will the one who will spend his entire energy in the work at hand. More higher the line in the palm, more mental the consummation will be. The display of emotions is not that easy, or atleast they take a secondary place.
If the curved heart line ends in the mount of Jupiter, it shows the tendency for love that is highly idealistic, and a bit far from reality. The person is incurable romantic. More the line covers the mount, the more pronounced are the characteristics. A line reaching the base of fore finger will make the person too possessive, protective and demanding.
The curved line with fork at the end, with one branch ending in mount of Jupiter and another below middle finger shows perfect balance and harmony in emotions.
Palmistry- Minor Lines: Apart from the major lines, few minor lines are also considered for overall detailed analysis. Although there are numbers of minor lines, the lines for major significance are as follows:
a) Destiny Line: Destiny line usually runs from base of the palm upto the base of middle finger. It is also known as luck line, or fate line. If the line originates from the lifeline itself, then the person is highly attached with his family and surroundings. Hence, his luck is much dependent on them.
If the line originates independently between the mounts of Venus and moon, that means the person is a self made man. Same conclusion is applicable for the person with no luck line at all. Absence of luck line does not mean absence of luck or success. At most it can mean the absence of any external support in life.
A fragmented luck line at the base, which runs strong, afterwards is symbolic of a person who has to go through hurdles early in the life. There can be many luck lines running parallel to the main one. These are all support lines. The difference in the fate line in the two hands will reveal the fact about a person`s self-gained destiny.
b) Apollo Line: The line reaching the mount of Apollo or sun is termed as Apollo line. It is also famously known as the success line. Sun line depicts the inherent capability to achieve Success in life. This line also prominently indicates personal magnetism, confidence and charisma. It is indicative of all the glory that "shows". All the public figures and celebrities have this line very strongly etched in the palm.
If the line is short or the starting point is much up in the hand, reveals the late age period in which the subject is likely to get success. A long smooth running sun line from base of palm to mount of Apollo shows prominent success throughout the life. If the origin occurs from the middle of palm, the success is accordingly delayed. A person with strong fate line and success line- both, is likely to amass a lot of achievement in life.
c) Mercury Line: Starting from the mount of mercury and reaching the lifeline, this line indicates the free flow of our energy. If the line is simply and smoothly etched without breaks, that reveals a person who is capable of smooth communication, has robust health and is endowed with a balanced disposition in life. A broken mercury chain indicates repression of feelings (or not so free communication), ill disposition in health, and the fact that the subject is not happy with the circumstances in his life.
Palmistry- Mounts: Mounts are the extra raised pads of flesh in our palm. A hand is the constant receiver of signals from the brain. There are regions in a palm where extra transmissions of signals, bringing extra blood supply are padded with extra flesh for protection. These areas are called mounts. Each mount in the palm is symbolic to a particular planet in astrology, and represents the same qualities in a person.
a) Mount of Venus: Venus mount endows one with love, physical appearance, inclination for arts and beauty, sense of aesthetics, luxuries in life, love for good food and wine, sensualities, romance, compassion et el.
A well-balanced raised mount with pink tinge depicts well-balanced aspects in the above-mentioned fields. An underdeveloped mount depicts the person lacking in all the faculties of Venus. An overdeveloped Venus depicts the person`s overindulgence in food and sex. The physical passion can take the brutish force if the person`s hand has those qualities in overall reading.
b) Mount of Moon: The mount of moon shows our emotional side and thinking patterns, our imagination, creativity, sensitivity, intuitions, maternal instincts, harmony in relationships etc. A well-balanced mount of Lunar gives all round success in life, be it in business or personal. A balanced and creative life lays the foundation for a subject`s harmonious and accomplished life.
An underdeveloped mount shows the person to be unimaginative, non-intuitive, or emotionally cold. An overdeveloped mount of Moon shows the person to be too creative and imaginative, extremely maternal and intuitive, with strong attraction towards water bodies. The person can also be cold and vacillating (depends upon other indicators).
c) Mount of Jupiter: Mount of Jupiter in a palm represents fortune, confidence, a sense of authority, piousness and inclination towards religion, education, knowledge, optimism, ambition, integrity, compassion, expansion and justice.
A well-developed mount of Jupiter confirms the person to be well educated, of high esteem and character, honorable and ambitious with healthy self-confidence and optimistic attitude towards life. An underdeveloped mount shows the person lacking in the above-mentioned qualities. The person is under confident, pessimistic and has lesser prospects in life. An overdeveloped mount shows extremes in ambition or ego, upto the point of being vain.
d) Mount of Saturn: The mount of Saturn embodies all the astrological qualities of the planet. It showcases the tendencies of discipline and hard work in a person, which are: resolution, hard work, practicality, wisdom, longevity, a sense of responsibility, gloom, stamina, patience, reliability, caution, solitude and repression. All these qualities are attached with this mount. It is usually desirable that this mount does not have its independent existence. The mount is better when merged with the other two side mounts. Studying the middle finger does the assessment of the qualities of mount. If the middle finger is just a nail longer than index or ring finger, it shows balanced Saturn qualities.
In case of saturnine people, the mount is actually raised in the centre (i.e. having an independent existence). In that case, the attributes of the planet are quite prominent in the person. If other palm features are indicative of an overall positive persona, then the person is responsible, wise and tenacious, though subjected to over caution, solitude and gloom. In case the negative traits are indicated, the person is ambitious, cold and downright ruthless. If the Saturn qualities are absent, that is the middle finger is shorter than required, then the person is totally frivolous.
e) Mount of Apollo: Sun is the creator of the self. It endows physical self, energy, vitality, creativity, generosity and compassion in our life. Sun is the symbol of success, power, and fame. Spine, fatherhood and children, illumination, light, soul, charisma, personal magnetism, strength, ruler-ship, majesty, authority, gold, dignity, originality, honour, fame, glory, fortune, extravagance, pride, arrogance, vanity, fire, and energy- all these are embodiment of the qualities of Sun. The mount of Apollo in our palm shows the extent to which these very characteristics are developed.
A healthy looking, well-developed mount depicts a person enriched with all these attributes in a well-balanced ways. An underdeveloped mount shows the person lacking in all these qualities. An overdeveloped mount characterizes a person who is too arrogant, extravagant and vain. He / she is the lover of him and himself only. They consider themselves to be the sole centre of existence and are self-centered and manipulative to the extreme.
f) Mount of Mercury: Mercury embodies intellect, communication skills, nervous system, travels, wit, shrewdness, versatility, reasoning, understanding, interest, education, grasping, mind etc. In hands dominated by negative aspects, it shows fickleness, superficiality, nervous disposition with a hyper tendency to criticize, and lack of emotions in a person. Normally developed mount of mercury is indicative of caliber in communication and thinking, with good amount of interests and business sense.
A not so developed mount indicates a person who is unable to grasp things quickly, and is at loss with communication. An overdeveloped mount depicts a person with great deal of nervous energy, astute business acumen, and extremely restless creative energy channelised into communication.
g) Mount of Mars: Mount of Mars is divided in two regions in the palm. The upper mars, also known as the active mars, depicts vitality, courage, aggression, straightforwardness, leadership qualities, dynamism and drive. The negative qualities manifested by it are brutality, coarseness, foolhardy and immaturity.
A well-developed upper mount of mars represents the well-balanced qualities of the planet. An underdeveloped mount depicts the person to be totally lacking in courage, vitality, drive and virility. An overdeveloped Mars shows the person to be very courageous who thrives on adventures and excitement. If the other aspects of palm are not positive, then these very qualities may turn in brutal force and unnecessary aggression.
The Lower Mars, or Passive mars, depicts inner strength, stamina and courage. A well-developed Lower Mars shows that the person has the caliber to go through the trying situations in life with aplomb. An underdeveloped mount depicts the person to be cowardly and spineless. An overdeveloped mount shows the person to have superhuman stamina and courage to face pain and sufferings in life.
Palmistry- Signs in a Hand: Certain signs in a hand represent common traits wherever they are present.
The Grille (a criss-cross webbed structure) signifies retardation or obstacles wherever it is placed. The mount where it is placed suffers a setback due to its presence.
Islands in a line (Figure) or chained line depicts flawed or weak line, or troubles in that particular area or time period.
A chained brain line is most undesirable. An island depicts the troublesome time during a specific period of life.
A triangle generally gives auspicious results wherever it is present.
A square provides protection from any trouble in the related field where it is placed. For example, a square in fate line protects the individual from any disaster during that time.
A star denotes a spectacular achievement except when it is placed in a fate line. In such a case, the star will depict an accident or defamation.
A star at the mount of Jupiter shows magnificent gain in position of public fields. It also shows high potential in the field of politics.
A star in mount of moon shows a stunning achievement through creative and imaginative faculties.
Along with the universal signs, symbols of special significance to Hindus are also considered in Jyotish shastra. For example, Conch (shankh) and Trident (Trishul) signifies extreme wealth and fame. A lotus (Padma) or a canopy gives the same effects and are usually seen in hands of great people.
Shell or Whorl, also known as Shankha are found on the tips of the fingers. One shell indicates a king, two wealth, three spiritual powers, four poverty, five wealth, six spirituality, seven poverty, eight wealth, nine spirituality, and ten poverty.
Symbols of Serpent or Sword denote troubles and enemies.
Scales denotes Wealth and prosperity.
Ring of Saturn encircles the base of the Saturn finger and denotes Magic and occult powers.
