Indian movie actor Vivek Oberoi was born on 3rd September 1976. His father was Suresh Oberoi who was pretty noticeable in the film Industry. His son did fairly well when he appeared to the silver screen for the first time in `Company`. He did many things in his childhood including acting, model, and dubbing artist, Vivek Oberoi has slogged for decades to reach the top. After intensive studies at New York University`s famed Tisch School of Drama, Vivek returned to Bombay, determined to take Bollywood by storm. But the storm almost passed him by. Director Ram Gopal Varma, casting for his gangster film Company, dismissed Oberoi as too pretty for the role of Chandu, not fit as a gangster. To get the role in Verma`s film Vivek worked himself for ten days to convince Verma with joy to accept him for the role and saying that he is the one for whom the role is perfect to play.

Finally he was in the film and it was a critically acclaimed hit and his performance was applauded. He received Filmfare Awards in the Best Debut as well as the Best Supporting Actor category. His next films were Road and Dum, in which his performance was appreciated. He starred along with Rani Mukerji in Yash Raj Films `Saathiya` in 2002 directed by Shaad Ali. The film was critically and commercially successful and Vivek gained many accolades. He received Best Actor nominations at various award functions. Next he starred in the comic film Masti in 2004 with Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Desmukh. He also starred in the critically acclaimed film Yuva, in which he was very much appreciated for his performance. His 2005 release Kaal was also successful. In 2006 he appeared in Omkara an adaptation of Shakespeare`s play Othello which was critically acclaimed in India as well as overseas. He played the character of Kesu based on the character Michael Cassio in the original play. He played successfully against Bipasha Basu. In 2007 he won acclaim for his role as the gangster Maya Dolas in the multi-starred `Shootout at Lokhandwala`. Vivek Oberoi is active in volunteer work. He sponsored a village after the Indian Ocean Tsunami. He also released Tanya Khubchandani and Sandeep Chowta`s government approved anti substance abuse documentary.
