Bhadrakali Temple, Bhadrakali-Handwara, Jammu & Kashmir
The temple is located in Bhadrakali, about 8km to the west of Handwara in Kupwara district of northern Kashmir.

Maa Kali Bhadrakali Temple is situated on a hilltop in a thick pine forest of Deodars. The commanding deity of the temple is Goddess Kali (a fearful and ferocious form of Goddess Durga). This is an ancient temple ravaged due to immense snowfall and incessant rainfall. No puja was performed here after the migration of the Kashmiri Pandits. But, surprisingly, the local Muslims looked after the temple, repairing it several times. It was recently restituted by the joint efforts of the local populace and has been opened up for the devotes, finally ready with puja offerings. There is a statue of Bhadrakali worshipped on Chaitra Navami, the 9th day of Chaitra. This festival in the whole of northern India is known as Ram Navami. People from different parts of the state gather during the celebratory time. Maa Kali Bhadrakali Temple is easily accessible from Handwara, 26km from Sopore. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi.
