
Indian movie actor Abhishek Bachchan is the son of a Royal family with great family members. His grandfather was Haribansh Rai Bachchan who was a great poet in Urdu and Hindi literature. Harivansh`s real family name was Srivastav, and he used Bachchan as his pen name, which in turn was adopted by his son and grandson as their screen names. He is of Punjabi Sikh heritage from his grandmother Teji`s side, while also of Bengali Brahmin descent from his mother Jaya Bhaduri`s side. After attending schools in Bombay, New Delhi and Switzerland, Abhishek Bachchan moved to the U.S. to complete his studies in business at Boston University. He eventually left school to pursue acting and also to help his father at the time of trouble facing by ABCL Company. Bachchan made his debut with J.P. Dutta`s Refugee with debutant Kareena Kapoor. After that, his career consisted of films that went un-noticed at the box office. His film `Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya` was real flop at the box office but very soon the boy Bachchan recovered and delivered a hit and a critically acclaimed performance, in the films Dhoom and Yuva. His performance in the latter was praised for which he received his first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category as well as many other awards. Since then, Bachchan has starred in films that have been commercially and critically successful and has established himself as one of the leading actors of the industry. The spark was there it was just waiting for the ignition.
In 2005 he experienced fame with four consecutive hits namely Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar, Dus and Bluffmaster. He won his second Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Sarkar. Bachchan also received his first Filmfare nomination in the Best Actor category for Bunty Aur Babli. This was a comedy movie with Rani Mukherjee and also accompanied with his father Amitabh Bachchan. In 2006, the multi-starrer Karan Johar movie `Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna` also casts Abhishek which was one of the highest grossing films of the year. He was also a part of Mani Ratnam`s stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai alongside many other co-stars. Though his `Umrao Jaan` failed to do well at the box office his Dhoom 2, a sequel to his first hit `Dhoom` did very good business. His 2007 his `Guru` was released where his offscreen wife Aishwarya Rai accompanied him. He has received much acclaim for his performance and the film emerged as his first solo hit. He recently made a brief appearance in the multi-starrer `Shootout at Lokhandwala`. However his film `Jhoom Barabar Jhoom` received mixed reviews, Bachchan received good reviews for his performance in the film. Abhishek Bachchan is also involved in the functional and administrative operations of his father`s company AB Corp. Ltd. It is known that Abhishek Bachchan helped his father a lot to revive his company ABCL after its huge loss.
