The Indian movie, `Jhankar Beats` is the directorial debut of Sujoy Ghosh. It is a story of three ordinary individuals, faced with normal challenges in life. They try desperately to balance their personal and professional lives, meeting failures and aiming for success as well. The Bollywood film `Jhankar Beats` is the story of three couples and each of them in a stage of crisis in their personal relationships. The new director has actually created magic. There is nothing new in the story of Jhankar Beats but the presentation of the movie makes it different from others. With his unique ways and some unique dialogues the viewers get three hours of unique fun.

Synopsis of `Jhankar Beats`
Jhankaar Beats is an excellent story of three friends. It is also a story of love and faith. Deep, one of the protagonists played by Sanjay Suri is married to Shanti played by Juhi Chawla. They have a daughter Muskaan while Shanti is again expecting. Rishi played by Rahul Bose is his best friend. They are working in an advertising agency. Rishi and his wife Nicky played by Rinke Khanna have problems in their married life due to misunderstandings.

On the other hand Rishi and Deep are ardent music lovers. They are particularly obsessed with R.D Burman. They compete in an annual music contest named Jhankaar Beats. Though they have been loosing the contest from last two years they are still hopeful that they will win it someday. Jhankaar Beats is only two months away and right now both of them need to practice hard for the contest and find a guitarist for their band.

Jhankaar Beats begins with Rishi and Deep heading for a divorce. Rishi`s self-created personal image does not allow him to appear upset or disturbed over any issue. As a result Rishi is trapped in his own web and has no option but to go through his divorce. Deep`s mother-in-law played by Shashikala has come to their house to see her daughter Shanti. Actually she comes to lend a helping hand to Shanti and this is a challenge for Deep to tolerate her nagging nature. Professionally also Rishi and Deep are under pressure. They have to do an advertising campaign for a new client i.e. a condom manufacturer. They meet Indraneel played by Shayan Munshi. Popularly known as Neel, he is the son of their boss Mr. Kapoor. Eventually he joins with them to do the campaign.

Neel has done management training from New York and a guitarist. He also has his own problems. He likes a girl named Preeti played by Riya Sen but could not gather courage to talk to her. His father thinks that he is spoiling his life. He asks Neel to find a girl in two months or he has to do this of his parents` choice. Rishi and Deep at first tease him mercilessly. But soon they start loving him as their younger brother. Shanti is a composed woman who takes care of all their needs. She tries to make Rishi understand about his divorce case and make up with Nicky.

Rishi eventually got an opportunity and decides to leave the country as soon as possible. He buys tickets for America on the same day of the Jhankar Beats competition. Rishi is planning to leave for the airport when Deep tries a lot to refrain him from going. He failed to do so and gets depressed and losses his confidence. Deep and Neel go to attend the competition with a broken heart accompanied with Shanti and Preeti. When they reach the destination they find Rishi there and they participate in the contest to their fullest. In the midway Shanti falls sick and Deep and Rishi take her to the hospital. She gives birth to a son whom Deep names Rahul. Neel and Preeti comes to the hospital with good news of winning the competition. They also do an excellent campaign for their product and give a very good catch line, which is readily approved by the client. The film has a happy ending as Rishi finally goes to Nicky and says that he is sorry. Nicky forgives him. Neel and Preeti come together and Deep finds a complete family.

The film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and it is produced by Bobbie Ghosh, music in the film is given by Vishal-Shekhar. Cinematography and editing are done by Mazhar Kamran and Suresh Pai respectively.

The Indian movie `Jhankaar Beats` has been awarded with the Special Jury Award for the Best Film at Houston International Film Festival. The movie also got Stardust and Zee Cine Awards. It has got Sansui Award as Best Supporting Actress. `Jhankar Beats` has bagged Stardust for Best Music Director and Zee Cine Award for Best Male Playback Singer as well.
