Neikkarapatti is an example of a panchayat town, which is situated in the Dindigul district of the state of Tamil Nadu

One finds no dearth of cities and towns in the soils of India that have thronged by leaps and bounds. In case of Tamil Nadu the same phenomenon is prevalent. Neikkarapatti has drawn the admiration of all the experts. It can also be spelt as Neikkarapatty. In fact it is the name of a panchayat town, which has its location in the district of Dindigul of the same state of the country.

Discussion on any town or city does not take a concrete shape without gathering enough information that is related to its demography. For fulfilling such motive eminent demographers have tirelessly working night and day in Neikkarapatti so that they would succeed in conducting surveys and research works. The most relevant document is the Census report that has been brought out in the year 2001. Data like literacy rate, population status etc has been deciphered from it . According to this report, Neikkarapatti has shown a population counting of 11,891. By deeply analyzing the report one also gets to identify the status of males, females and also that of children. Interestingly, in Neikkarapatti both male and female populace is in equal proportion. In other words male populace constitutes 50 %, while female population also is the same. In Neikkarapatti, 9 % of the population constitutes of children who are below six years of age.

To what extent a town has achieved development is quite apparent from its high average literacy rate. In other words, Neikkarapatti`s average literacy rate constitutes 65 %, which is even higher than the 59.5 %, India`s average literacy rate. A gap exists between both male and female literacy rates. Male literacy rate comprises of 75 %, while the rate of female literacy is as low as 55 %.

It is on the banks of River Shanmuga, covering an area of near about 2 sq. kilometers. Neikkarapatti lies near Palani. Places like Ayyampalayam, Sankaramanallur, Balasamudram, Pushpattur and Ayakudi forms the boundaries of Neikkarapatti. To enhance the tourist quotient Neikkarapatti is thronged with numerous temples like Dandayudhapani Temple, Ahobila Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Palani Hill Temple and Malai Nachiamman Temple. They are found in the adjoining areas. For facilitating accessibility, this Neikkarapatti is well connected by airports and railways. C A Coimbatore Airport and Palani Railway Station lie in the vicinity.
