
Miramar Beach is situated 1 kilometre ahead of the confluence of Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. It is situated on the way towards Dona Paula, about 3 kilometres from Panjim, the capital city of
Goa. Miramar Beach is also known as `Gasper Dias`.
The Miramar Beach in Goa begins at the gulf and then culminates in the Emerald Coast Parkway. It is a beautiful golden beach fringed with palm trees. The soft sands of the beach makes it the best site for evening walks. The word, `miramar` in Portuguese means `viewing the sea`. Tourists can experience the glimpse of the confluence of the Arabian Sea and the River Mandovi from the Miramar Beach at Goa. The thick grove of shady palms forms a dense canopy over the area. The Miramar Beach of Goa has a 2 kilometre long coast and silvery sand bed. The silver sand beds of the beach are said to sparkle in the moonlight. The beach also provides a panoramic view of the Aguada fort, which is known for its peaceful surroundings and solitude. The beach provides the much-desired solitude and isolation from the crowded areas.
The coastal wintering grounds attract various species of migratory birds like Plovers and Gulls. These birds return to Miramar beach each winter, as it gives them a brief respite from the harsh winter back home. Here, at Miramar beach Goa they find food in plenty in the form of aquatic invertebrates, seeds and insects. Thus the best time to visit the Miramar Beach is between the months of November and March.
