Lloyd Botanical Garden in Darjeeling district preserves a wide variety of Orchids and other native species of plants.

Lloyd`s Botanical Garden, Tourist Places in Darjeeling, West BengalLloyd Botanical Garden is situated in Darjeeling district of West Bengal and was founded in the year 1878. This garden is located just below the market place in Darjeeling. During the days of construction, Lloyd Botanical Garden covered a land of 40 acres and was built as the distant annex of the Calcutta Botanical Garden. The garden is named after William Lloyd. Delightfully carved out terraces featuring alpine plants, arum lilies, azaleas, geraniums, tree ferns and conifers are a treat to the eyes. The garden is presently functioning under the forest department of Government of West Bengal.

This Lloyd Botanical Garden preserves several species those are aboriginal to the Darjeeling Himalayan Hill Region, Sikkim and other neighbouring regions. Along with this, several exotic plants are also preserved. There is a separate conservatory area where cacti and succulent plants are also displayed. There are more than hundred and fifty species of this kind of plants preserved here. The collection of Orchid is famous in the Lloyd Botanical Garden.
