Kappad Beach located at Kappad is nearly sixteen kilometers from Kozhikode in Kerala. It is on this beach where the Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese navigator landed in India in 1498. There is a monument on the beach, which bears ample testimony to this historic event. It is a very calm and peaceful beach with stretches of rocks projecting in to the sea. Locally, this beach is known as Kappakadavu and there is a very old temple on the rocks. The sea here is calm with the soft waves caressing the shores.
