Bogmalo Beach is situated near the port city of Vasco in South
Goa. It is a vast open beach located at the south of the Dabolim airport and opposite the Mormugao peninsula sun parched central plateau. The Bogmalo beach was initially a small fishing village until the Oberoi erected a huge five star hotel. The hotel was built by Trade Wings. This building is situated right on the sea. Beyond the building are mysterious little islands, shipwrecks in the silt. The village at Bogmalo is still present inspite of the transformation in its environs. Expensive cafe-bars with boisterous Western music dwell in the beach, while the clearing below the hotel is prowled by assiduous Kashmiri handicraft vendors.
As compared to other beaches Bogmalo is still a small-scale resort. The beach is clean and not too crowded and the water is reasonably safe for swimming. Around the hotel there are plenty of pleasant eateries from where one can taste the traditional goan food. The soft sands of the beaches allow the tourists to indulge in sunbathing and lazing about the beach. The soothing weather and the calm sea make it a soothing place for picnics and excursions. The beach also has proper accommodation for its tourists. There are few luxurious hotels overlooking the beach.
