Beaches of Maharastra
The beaches of Maharastra make a perfect holiday destination as the beaches here lend a slice of serenity .

Maharastra, another coastal state of India, has several beaches, which are a major attraction among tourists and locals alike. The water here is comparatively safe and this makes the beaches a perfect holiday destination for families. Some of the well-known beaches here are, Madh Island Beach, Marve-Manori-Gorai beach, Ganapatipule Beach, Murud - Janjira beach, Dahanu - Bordi Beach, Harnai Beach, Kihim and Mandwa Beach, Vijaydurg - Sindhudurg Beach, Shriwardhan - Harihareshwar Beach, Tarkarli Beach, Bassein Beach, Velneshwar Beach.

Madh Island Beach is a popular picnic spot dotted with beautiful bungalows with urban aura. The beach is the venue for lavish parties held outside Mumbai.

Marve- Manori- Gorai beach Marve- Manori- Gorai beach lies in the north of Mumbai. There are perfect holiday destinations to break out from the hustle and bustle of city life. While Marve is a fishing village and the quietest of the three, Gorai and Manori are well known for their parties at night.

The Ganapatipule Beach on the western coast of Maharashtra is one of the ` Ashta Ganapati` pilgrimage site of India.

Murud - Janjira Beach are enchanting beaches fringed with swaying palm trees.

Dahanu- Bordi beach is located in Thane district which stretches for nearly seventeen kilometers. The beach is the ground for cultivating Chickoo fruit as there are huge orchids spread over large area.

Harnai Beach is a secluded and reclusive beach situated at a distance of two hundred kilometers from Mumbai. It is popular among tourists and locals of Mumbai and Pune alike.

Kihim and Mandwa Beach is situated at a distance of twenty kilometers from Alibaug. With it`s untainted serenity, Mandwa and Kihim Beach has a lovely ambience.

Vijaydurg- Sindhudurg Beach is a historical site as it was the naval bases of Great Chattrapati Shivaji.

Shriwardhan - Harihareshwar Beach is an enchanting beach and attracts tourists in large numbers. It is located in the Raigad district and has a soothing and calm environment.

Tarkarli beach is the meeting point of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea and is an enticing beach with its golden sands and turquoise waters. It is situated in the south of Malvan at a distance of six kilometers and at a distance of five hundred and forty six kilometers from Mumbai.

Velneshwar Beach Velneshwar Beach is situated at a distance of one hundred and seventy kilometers from Ratnagiri in Velneshwar village. The beach has coconut trees all around and the calm waters make it perfect for swimming. The beach has no rocks and perfect for various water sports.

Baseein Beach located seventy-seven kilometers from Mumbai is one of the renowned beaches of Maharastra. Also referred as Vasai Beach, the beach has beautiful churches. In the past the beach used to be a place for shipbuilding.
