Sisters, Shobha DeThe dark side of the business world of Mumbai, the tense nesses between two half sisters Mallika and Alisha and finally the multitudinous twists and turns in relationship weaves the storyline of the Sisters. The story is about the two sisters Alisha and Mallika, hence the title rightly justifies the storyline.

Shobha De is a prolific writer born in Maharashtrian Brahmin Family in Mumbai. She took psychology subject in her graduation course, which has helped her a lot when she started her career in writing. Model, Editor, Columnist, Author, Wife, Mother, Agony aunt, Social commentator, Scriptwriter, Shobha De wears many crowns on her head. But previously she faced many drawbacks in her life, in spite of which she fights back and made her name dazzling on the list of Indian women writers. In many cases she felt initial rejection, dejection, familial bonds, domesticity and whatnot. It is amazing to note that with all these pain and sour experience she has climbed the ladder of success and made her own position in world literature. Shobha De is a controversial writer who had diverse career roles ranging from model to columnist. All her published novels have been successful. Currently we have witnessed her make a literary transition from writing-projects based on a rather flashy, elite society with emphasis on its extra-marital affairs, to a more mature and rather philosophical work on life and the myriad of twists and turns in relationships. She is an excellent writer expressing life to its fullest.

Synopsis: `Sisters` by `Shobha de` is an excellent novel. This is supposed to be about the rivalry and at the same time emotional bond between two half sisters namely Mallika and Alisha. They are the daughters of big time businessman Hiralal who dies at the beginning of the story. Out of the two sisters one is legitimate and the other one is illegitimate. The story revolves around the bad world of business in Bombay. The other world that is unknown to many persons. The novel loses its bearings after some pages, when Mallika who was introduced as a smart person looking to do well in her fathers industry is morphed into some kind of a tramp. The story is full of suspense in some parts and it should not be revealed much about this. The novel has an essence of soaps of these days.

`Sisters` is a book by Shobha De, which is a landmark of her writing. The mindset of two sisters is clearly visible as different from the other and here lies the charisma of the author. The story is illustrate d in a beautiful manner.
