Trishul Mountains, Uttarakhand, India
Trishul is a group of three mountains located in western Kumaun in Uttarakhand.

Trishul MountainsThree Himalayan mountains grouped together consists of Trishul mountains. It is located in western Kumaun which is in the state of Uttarakhand near the district of Bageshwar. The Trisul mountains form the southeast corner of the ring of peaks encircling the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. It is located fifteen kilometers west-southwest of the majestic Nanda Devi. Trisul is named after the trident of the Hindu god Shiva.

The three peaks are called Trishul I, Trisul II and Trisul III. The main peak is Trishul I which is situated at a height of 7,120 metres (23,359 feet) above mean sea level. Trisul II and Trisul III are situated at a height of 6,690 metres (21,949 feet) and 6,007 feet( 19,708 feet) above mean sea level respectively. This massif is a north south ridge with the Trishul I situated at the north end and Trishul III at the south. The geographic coordinates of Trisul I are 30°18`46?North, 79°46`38?East. The mountain prominence ( it is a measure of vertical separation between mountains) of Trishul is 1,616 metres (5,302 feet) above mean sea level.

This lofty Trishul mountain can be best seen from Kausani and Bedini Bugyal. Nanda Ghunti is located in the northwest while Mrigthuni is located in the southeast of Trishul.
