Ramtek Mandir laced with its sheer religiosity is located just 57 kilometres from Nagpur. The Maharashtra State Transport has daily bus service with good frequency between Ramtek and Nagpur. The belief is that Shri Ram stayed here awhile, with Lakshman and Sita, hence the name.

It was here that the prolific poet Kalidasa, wrote his epic poem, Meghdootam. Besides the Shri Ram temple and the Kailasha Memorial, there is the Ramgiri Hill, (mentioned as Ramgiri in Meghdootam) Ramsagar Lake and Khindsey Lake, made for enchanted seeing. The Kalidasa Smarak (memorial) is also worth a look. Accommodation is easy, where one can find self-contained rooms (5 Blocks) and Dormitories (1 Block- chiefly in Beds).
