The Nakki Lake is located in the Beautiful hill station of Mount Abu at an altitude of 1200 meters above mean sea level.

Nakki LakeNakhi is a very ancient sacred Lake. Located in the beautiful hill station of Mount Abu, Nakki Lake is a major tourist attraction. The lake is picturesquely set amidst hills. Nakki lake is dotted with small islets and is the only lake in India that is located at an altitude of 1200 meters above mean sea level.

Legends say that Gods carved out Nakki Lake with their nails for protection against the oppressions of Bashkali-a wicked demon. The Lake is about a half mile long and quarter of mile broad and 20 to 30 ft. deep towards the dam on the west.

The lake offers boating facilities. Sri Raghunathji Temple and Maharaja Jaipur Palace are located near the lake.The green hills near the lake, date-palms and Gandi Ghat garden enhance its beauty.The surrounding hills have several area of interest.


The ashes of Mahatma Gandhi wre immersed in this Holly Lake on 12th Febryary, 1948 and Gandhi Ghat was constructed, with green lawns, colourful flower beds and gushing fountains, in his memory. In the heart of the Lake, a Jet fountain was installed in the year 1972 A.D., from which the coloured water, gushes out very high in the Sky.
