Krishnarajasagara town of Karnataka state of India has showed a population count of 8510.

Following the trend of whole of India subcontinent a multiple of towns and cities also have developed in every hook and corner of Karnataka state. One such town is Krishnarajasagara. It is located in the district of Mandya of the same state of India.

Knowledge of the strategic location of any place also helps one to identify it in much better way. In fact Krishnarajasagara has its location approximately at 12.44° N 76.38° E. It has an average height of 791 meters or 2595 feet. To be specific one can locate Krishnarajasagara, which lies near `Krishna Raja Sagara dam and reservoir`. Discussion on any town of Indian continent becomes complete only one could gather enough information about the demography of that particular town. So to achieve such goal, a handful of demographers have organized surveys and also prepared reports accordingly afterwards.

In this regard the Census report that has been issued forth in the year 2001 is significant. If one throws a glance to this report it is apparent that one gets to know about the condition of males, female and also that of children of Krishnarajasagara. According to this report the total population of Krishnarajasagara has been enumerated to be 8510. Out of it, female populace comprises of 49 %. A point that needs to be highlighted is that males are more in number than females. Thus 51 % is the total population of males who are residing in Krishnarajasagara. In Krishnarajasagara, children who are below six years of age constitute 11 % of the population

How much a town has achieved development is rightly been inferred from the better literacy condition. In other words literacy is a vital indicator for gauging a town`s prosperity and growth. Since Krishnarajasagara town`s average literacy rate is 67 %, even higher than India average literacy rate it leaves no room for doubt any its own development. 59.5 % is the average literacy of India. Out of it, male literacy rate constitutes 73 %. Female literacy rate constitutes 60 %.

More information about the whole of Mandya district has been collected from varied sources. Although Kannada is the chief spoken language, people also converse in languages like Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Marathi. Just like many other places in India, cultivation is the main source of income of the people . Main crops that are grown here include sugarcane, paddy, ragi, jowar, groundnut, and coconut. Industrial growth also has occurred. Factories producing sugar , jaggery , milk, edible oil, BPL battery and also few small scale factories have flourished in the district. Since Krishnarajasagara is an integral part of this Mandya district it is quite natural that it too has shown some traits of the district as a whole.
