| Hussain Sagar Lake
| |
| Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali built the Hussain Sagar Lake in the sixteenth century during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. It is a perennial lake, which is built on the tributary of the River Musi to meet the water and irrigation needs of the Hyderabad city. This artificial lake is twenty-four kilometers long. In the center of the lake on the Rock of Gibraltar, there is a large monolithic statue of Buddha that was erected in 1992.
The Tank Bund has been constructed on the eastern banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake, which connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The Lumbini Park, Hyderabad Boat club, the Secretariat buildings are located in the southern side of the Tank Bund and the Secunderabad Sailing Club, Sanjeeviah Park and the Hazrat Saidani Ma Saheba Tomb are located on the northern side. Along with this several parks and scenic spots are also seen on either side of the lake.
