Anshu Thapliyal, Indian Classical Vocalist
Anshu Thapliyal, a vocalist of Gwalior Gharana, has performed at several commendable concerts to her own credit and has received the Dehradun Ratna Award.

Anshu ThapliyalAnshu Thapliyal was born and raised into the family where music has been idolised. She was born at the Dev Bhoomi, Gharwal Hills. This place has been considered to have rich musical heritage. She was inducted to the realm of music with the hands of her first guru Dr. Meeta Sarkar of Gwalior Gharana. Dr. Meeta Sarkar spotted her as a child prodigy. Anshu Thapliyal began her training in Khayal Gayaki of Indian Classical Music under her. After the rigorous training of 10 years, she went on receiving training to polish her vocal skills under the legendary tutelage of Pt. Murali Dhar Jaguri of Gwalior Gharana.

Career of Anshu Thapliyal
Anshu Thapliyal also obtained a scholarship from the HRD Ministry. Under that scholarship she got the privilege to learn, the nuances of Indian Classical Music under the specialised training of Vidushi Sulochana Brahaspati of Rampur Sadarang Tradition. Under Guru Shishya Parampara, Anshu Thapliyal has also fetched the reputation of accompanying her guru at respective concerts. Anshu Thapliyal has given many praiseworthy concerts to her own credit. She has performed through out India, places like Jaipur, Chandigarh, Agra, Bhopal, Kolkata, Indore, Allahabad, Benaras, Dehradun and Srinagar etc. She has also performed at the highly esteemed music festivals like Mahotsava, Ganga Utsava, Grishm Utsava, Baikunth Chaturdashi and AIR concerts. At each festival she has left a spellbound execution of Thumri, Dadra, Tappa and Khayal. She has also received rave reviews from the music critics.

Apart from executing most of her concerts in Indian classical music, Anshu Thapliyal has also given exhibition in light music as well. She has always attempted to incorporate her creative ideas generating from different genres of music. She has also lent her voice for projects like regional albums and movies. All of these are made for commercial purpose. But her center of attention has always been the Indian Classical Music. She has been determined towards her passion and continuously striving for the upliftment of the Indian classical music.

Acknowledging her contribution to the field of Art and Culture for the state of Uttarakhand, Anshu Thapliyal has been conferred the Dehradun Ratna Award. She has been looked as the music icon who is carrying the torch of this rich heritage of Indian Classical Music.
