University of Jammu - The University of Jammu was established in 1969 by an Act of the State Legislature. The University is located on the banks of the Tawi River. It has set up satellite campuses in Bhaderwah, Kathua and Poonch.
University of Kashmir - The University of Kashmir is on the western side of the
Dal Lake in
Srinagar. It has been awarded grade "A" by the NAAC. The campus is situated at Hazratbal. Its three adjacent campuses are: Amar Singh Bagh, Naseem Bagh and Mirza Bagh.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu - It was established on 20 September 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act 1982 through the State legislature.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir - It is located in Srinagar. Its main campus is located in Shalimar, Srinagar. The University has multiple campuses, colleges, research and extension centres across the Kashmir Valley and
Ladakh regions of the state.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University - This is a statutory university located near Katra. It is situated near the Shrine of the Mata Vaishno Devi. The university is fully residential and provides technical education in the field of Engineering, Science, Management, Philosophy and other subjects of contemporary importance.
Islamic University of Science & Technology - This is a public university located at Awantipora. It has been set up as a centre for higher learning for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State and its neighbouring regions. It is recognised by the UGC and AICTE.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badhshah University - This university came into existence by the Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 2002. It focuses on post graduate training and undertakes research in fields such as management, environment, biodiversity, bio-technology, computer sciences, information technology, and applied mathematics.
