Situated in the northern most part of the country, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is often called `Paradise on Earth`. The state houses some good Universities, which helped in developing the manpower of the state. Followings are the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir engaged in promotion of Higher education.

The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Shalimar in Jammu and Kashmir provides technical education to farmers and people related to the field.

The University of Jammu offers postgraduate, M Phil, Ph D and D Lit in different disciplines and some diploma courses.

The University of Kashmir offers courses for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students under the Faculty of Arts, Languages, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Dental Surgery, Engineering, Music and Fine Arts and Non-formal Education.
