The Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University was formerly known as the Bhagalpur University and was established in 1960, in Bhagalpur, which is now in Bihar. It is a state administered University spreading over 264 acres. It is a teaching cum affiliating University. It has thirty-six academic departments, twenty-four affiliated colleges and twenty-nine constituent colleges. It also has four research centers.
The University offers postgraduate, diploma and doctoral degrees. The University campus has a library, press, health unit and hostel. The Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University has the following Faculties: Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences
Faculty of Science, Faculty of Commerce, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Education. Bihar Regional Study Centre, Agro-Economic Research Centre, Sarat Chandra Research Centre and Maharshi Mehi Sant Sahitya Sodh-Peeth are also functions under this university.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited the University. It has also ventured with several international universities namely University of Vienna, Bristol University, Kent University, University of Lyon, and University of Notre Dame.
