Sri Sathya Sai University is located at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.It was established in the year 1981 under the provision of University Grants Commission Act of 1956.The University was named after its founder Sathya Sai Baba.Previously it was known as Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. In the year of establishment the University got the recognition from Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the University Grants Commission as deemed University. Sri Sathya Sai Baba serves as chancellor of the University. The Universty has three campus at Prashanthi Nilayam ashram,Whitefield, and Anantapur.The Prashanthi Nilayam ashram and Whitefield campus is for men and Anantapur is for women.
The University provides education absolutely free of cost and it is compulsory, students are to stay in the University hostel from primary level to postgraduate level.The University provides value based education to the student and focusses to build the character and personality of the Student.The courses offered by the University are based on ancient traditions and modern advancements.
The University has open admission policy and caters education irrespective of income,class,caste and religion.The University offers various courses under several departments including Department of Humanities, Department of Physics, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Department of Chemistry, School of Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Department of Bio-Sciences.In 2000 the University started Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music.The University got "A++" rating from National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
