Osmania University is the first University of Hyderabad and one of the oldest University of India.It was established in the year 1918 by the then Nizam of Hyderabad Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan.The main campus of the University occupies around 1600 acres land.

The University is funded by Goverment .The University has above 300,000 students and around 5,000 faculty and staff number spread over various colleges and campuses.In this capacity it is one of the largest Universities in India.Several colleges of state are affiliated to the University.

It offers various courses in Arts & Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Technology, Commerce and Business Management, Law, Information Technology and Oriental Languages.The University conducts National Entrance Examination for admission in various courses.The advanced research programmes of the University are funded by University Grants Commission and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.The University has been accredited with five-star status by National Accreditation and Assessment Council.
