National Institute of Technology is located at Anu in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh.The genesis of this university lies on Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur which was set up if the year 1986 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with Government of India. It was given the status of deemed university by the Government of India in the year 2002.

The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes in engineering and architecture. There are seven departments in the University namely the department of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Architecture and Applied Sciences & Humanities.
