Magadh University is located in Bodh Gaya,Bihar.The University was set up in the year 1962.It is a Government run University and is approved by the University Grant Commission.The campus of the University contains administrative buildings,academic buildings ,sophisticated computed center, central library,Health Centre,separate hostels for boys and girls,sports complex ,quarters for teachers and empolyees, Bank etc. The University has about 150 reputed professors in various discplines.The jurisdiction of the University extends to the districts of Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad and Arwal.

The University has 24 Post graduate departments, 44 constituent colleges and 85 affiliated colleges.The University offers various courses in the field of Humanities, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Medical, Engineering & Management .To meet the demand of present age the University has also started several job oriented courses such as M.B.A., M.C.A., B,C.A., B.B.M. Environmental Science, Tourism & Travel Management, Counseling & Rehabilitation, Journalism & Mass Communication.All these courses are conducted in various affiliated and constituent colleges of the University. Two Govt. Medical Colleges, Two private Engineering Colleges ,One private Dental College and three Law colleges are also affiliated to the university.The University offers several courses through distance mode.

The Cental library of the University provides extensive support to the students and researchers. It contains 1,62,245 books on various subjects, manuscripts,several journals of India and abroad etc.The library also has huge collection of new books on management, education, library science, tourism management, mass communication and computer science.The departmental laboratories of the University are very well established.The laboratories cater all the essential elements required for the research.
