Madhup Mudgal, Indian Classical Vocalist
Madhup Mudgal, well known for his Khayals and Bhajans, is a prominent name in the realm of Indian Classical music. He received the Padma Shri award in the year 2006.

Madhup MudgalMadhup Mudgal has been reckoned as one of the prominent Indian classical vocalists of the aspiring generation. Presently he is heading one of the leading and traditional institutes that have produced several illustrious Indian classical vocalists, the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Besides being a vocalist he is also a music composer. His late father and first guru, Professor Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, have founded this institution. Madhup Mudgal was born to a family that has devoted its five decades life to the education, research and performances of the music. His sister Madhavi Mudgal is a noted Odissi dancer. His daughter Arushi was the only Indian dancer to participate in International Dance Festival 2008.

Madhup Mudgal however fetched the honour of being trained under the great tutelage of legendary vocalist of Indian classical musical gharana namely Shri Vasant Thakar, Pandit Jasraj and the celebrated Pt Kumar Gandharva. They are regarded as the maestros of Indian classical music who has established this traditional rich heritage of classical music to its highest point and in the international arena.

This noted classical musician has obtained his M.Phil Degree for his research work in `the structure of Khayal` from the University of Delhi. Research work done by him opened up the avenues for him from where he does experimentation with different musical forms. Since many past years, he has been attached with a music group, the Gandharva Choir. This music group of which he has been serving as the conductor has earned esteem and well acclamation throughout the world. Today it became one of the highly esteemed music groups of India.

Acknowledging his talent, Madhup Mudgal has conferred many accolades. His full, loud and deep voice has always mesmerized his audiences throughout the world. He has composed many masterpieces to his credit, which has received well acclamation. A number of students have received training under Madhup Mudgal. Most of them have marked their impression as aspiring performers of Indian classical music. As recognition to his talent, he has been conferred one of the highest civilian award conferred by the government of India, `Padma Shri`. He has been nominated for this award for his immense contribution to the field of Indian rich heritage of classical music.
