Himachal Pradesh University is located in Shimla,Himachal Pradesh.The University is a public University and has been recognised by the University Grant Commission.It was set up in the year 1970.The University has 28 departments which offers courses in various discplines.There are several affiliated colleges to the University.

Hamid Karzai(President of Afghanistan) , Anand Sharma(Ministry of External Affairs. India), and Tsering Dundup (Public Relation Officer, Tibetan Youth Congress) are the alumni of the University.
