Gurudwara Manji Sahib
Located at the Alamgir in Ludhiana, Gurudwara Manji Sahib is one of the renowned Gurudwaras in Punjab.

Punjab, a historical and a heritage city, having a definite identity, houses the famous Gurudwara Manji Sahib. This Gurudwara is exactly located at Alamgir in Ludhiana. It is one of the renowned Gurudwaras in Punjab and here the 10th Sikh Guru, known as Guru Govind Singh spent a few days to refresh himself. He was tedious of the inexorable fight against the Machiavellian enemy. Further it is known that the Mughal Army followed Guru Govind Singh and as a result, he took shelter in this Gurudwara, which is consecrated as a holy place for the Sikhs.

The story that has been known behind the establishment of this Gurudwara runs in the following manner-

Gurudwara Manji Sahib The Mughals were gaining much power under the influence of Aurangazeb at the time of Guru Govind Singh. He then realized that he must have to fight out the evil and there took place a battle at Anandpur Sahib. His family was put to death. He then went to Macchiwara.

Two Pathans named Ghani Khan and Nabi Khan had come to known that they would be put to death. So, they helped Guru Govind Singh to escape. He escaped in disguise and came to Gurudwara Manji Sahib and stayed there for three days.

A Gurudwara was then constructed in his memory. After he reached Alamgir, he asked for drinking water. His men found that the boundary wall had fallen into the well and the water became stained. So, the water was not fit for drinking.

Miraculously enough, Guru Govind Singh shot an arrow on the stony ground and water gushed out from there. Later it was changed into a tank and is known as `Tirsar` or `Arrow Lake`. It was also prophesized that "... whoever visits the holy tank with full faith, all his pains and worries would be cured".

Till date, the palanquin that had been used by Guru Govind Singh is preserved with care. There is also a Langar that serves the people with free food and drink. It is believed that whoever visits the Gurudwara Manji Sahib has his desires fulfilled.
